Ging is heading back to the lakes today, trains are running at reduced speed south of Lockerbie. According to BBC weather winds at Shap are just shy of 70mph.

Been a bit of a wild night here in Cornwall - I was almost seasick with the caravan rocking in the wind. At least there was no rain - up 'til now

Ging is currently stuck in Carlisle waiting for a bus! West Coast shut south of Carlisle, trees have brought down the overhead lines, this is from the Virgin Twitter page:

Wind isn't easing here any yet. Just been out in the front garden righting pots that have been blown over.

The missus is just back in and said the roads are full of small branches & leaves, no trees down as such.

Wind is easing a bit now, still an occasional enthusiastic gust though. Need to get the garden vac out when it dies down, lot of leaves and other rubbish around.
