Had a few but the only one I’d recommend is snap on lithium there amazing I know expensive but do hold there money if you ever want to sell it again, once you use one you’ll know what I mean if not google the snap on guns a read the reviews,a friend has gone over to Milwaukee and he rates them so it’s down to personal choice and budget at the end of the day

I have a Milwaukee 2767-20 18v, the best £300 I have ever spent in my view. It will undo almost anything and supposedly will undo up to 1400lbft.

There are several jobs I come across that have always given me problems but with this they just undo. There are 4 settings for undoing and tightening and I suggest you start on one of the lower settings as the top setting will snap wheel studs as my son found out.

They seem to be cheaper in the USA and even with import duty mine was still cheaper than buying it here, I have a 240v to 110v adaptor for the charger that was less than £20 from Amazon but you can buy a genuine 240v charger here for under £40 from Ebay.

I've got the ryobi battery gun and it hasn't failed to undo a nut yet , driveshaft nuts, wheel nuts and suspension shackles on my other car , just make sure its the biggest battery and fully charged.

I suppose the acid test for rattle guns is can they undo diesel crankshaft pulley bolts?

If so then they should manage anything else on the car.

Absolutely.

I suspect the only electric one that would do such a job, would have to be one developed with Alien technology.

My snap on gun has never not undone a crank pulley bolt yet it surprises me what it will actually undo

Yes my Milwaukee is the same, some crank bolts are crazily tight but now they just undo. I remember one Fiesta I had to do was a mare, I had a 4 foot breaker bar with a scaffold pole and I didn't think it was going to budge. I borrowed a battery impact wrench and I was sold. After a couple of seconds of work it was undone.

Well I bought the mains powered one in Ian's Post#5, and it didn't budge the crank pulley bolt.

Great for other stuff though, and it was only around 50 quid at the time.

The 5ft scaffold pole and 3/4 drive breaker bar (welded up and modified after it broke on the first attempt!) works fine for the pulley bolts.
