Welcome along. You say the boot badge is faded, presumably it's the small one on the boot lid plinth If so, we have a member who does quality replacements

Welcome
I never did anything to the previous cars I had, I always let a gerage do everything. But since I joined this forum I have started doing jobs myself, with the help of other members and the fantastic how too section.
From a standing start I have now -
Put a new radiator on.
Fixed a big air bubble in the engine.
Changed a rear coil spring.
Changed front and rear brake discs and pads.
Done an oil change.
Fitted a wood/leather steering wheel.
Fitted a new ICE wiring loom, plus adding a subwoofer (Harmon Kardon type).
replaced rear backplates.
Replaced broken hand brake cables.
swapped door cards.
changed carpets.
Changed internal trim.
Put new sparkies in one.

EDIT - almost forgot, I have also rebadged and resprayed a front grille.

and there are still lots of other jobs to do, but I'm getting close to the end of what needs doing

Don't be scared of doing your own work, but buying all the tools and parts can be expensive. Fortunately I could get the more minty items while I was still working.
Enjoy your Rover

Hi Trovor, from another CDT owner. The BMW diesel engine is very reliable, it's things like fuel pumps and MAF sensor that cause problems, although not hard to sort out if you know what to look for (so ask). If yours is original 114 PS, I hear that the T40 remap up to the later CDTi 131 PS spec. is well worthwhile for both driveability and economy. Read up as much as you can on these cars, they have their quirks and design faults, - for many of these, prevention is better than cure, then you can rest easy. I believe the autobox benefits from more frequent oil changes than the service schedule indicates, but there are others far more qualified than me to give you authoritative advice. Happy Rovering!

Hi, and welcome to the club. Nice to see another owner in Essex and not too far from me either. I've learned a lot in my 3+ years on here so don't hesitate to ask about anything. Although I don't know anything about diesels, there's a lot of people on here do.
