Default Track rod ball joint replacment.

After MOT, advisory indicated movement in offside track rod ball joint. Come next year I can guarantee they will want to change it!
Anyway have acquired new replacement unit, only query what size splitter do I need, as there appears to be a myriad of choices? Cheers

Thanks Mac I have seen these cheaper, but as said my problem was they all appear to be size marked such as 0 -3 or 5-9 etc???
So my main problem was sorting out the required size(If that is necessary?)

Stock number 28882 part No:160
So thanks again, the RH ball joint assembly "Moog" from Carparts4less inc postage was/is £17.

Well worth talking to your local Snap on rep, there Blue point ball joint splitter is one of the best on the market and if you pay cash is often only a couple of £'s more that the one you have been looking at.

One tip when separating a ball joint is once the pressure is wound up hit the joint with a hammer as this is often enough to brake the stiction in the joint. Once you have done this another 1/2 a turn and hit again if it does not go the first time. Don't be shy as it will be going in the bin afterwards.

Please let us know over time how this Moog part wears. Hope it is a good un. Don’t think we have had any feed back on Moog before.

Moog used to be the crème de la crème of motor parts, and it is surprising how few DIY motorists have heard of them.
Main thing is ensure its genuine!Carpparts4less guarantee it.

As for wear ,with the amount of mileage I do, I doubt if it will ever get totally tested in my lifetime. The car has clocked 42,000 from new,and the track rod was an advisory but I will change it regardless. My annual mileage at the moment due to age ,and complications is about 600!

did the ball joint crack loud enough for you to think something had exploded or broken, it did mine. Made me jump out of my skin the first time

One of the two TRW track rod ends I did at the weekend did, and with quite a big bang, yes it made me flinch even though I was expecting it.
