Default Most expensive parking ever

Uplifting friends coming in from Malta at Edinburgh Airport yesterday.

We arrived in the car park about 10 minutes before their flight was due. The flight was actually early and had already landed by the time we entered the terminal then there was a hiccup with the baggage carousel which delayed our friends exit.
We were back out at the ticket machine with four minutes left under our 1 hour @ £10 and got gubbed for £16
In over 50 years driving that is definitely the most expensive car parking I’ve had.

Lots of chaps caught everyday for so little unfortunately.
I didn't escape it once and my wife as well twice.
Cash machines...
And sometimes you cannot even know at what maximum speed you're allowed to drive, so many times in so short a distance the limit is changing.
Hence the 'gilets jaunes' upheaval...

In addition to this post my wife has English plates and the fine was sent to our address in Britain.

Seems there is now close collusion between the French police and the Brits

So be warned any of you Brits going on holiday to France this year. Your British plate is no longer invisible to French radar.

It seems that it is not a reciprocal arrangement though.
French drivers can speed over here and fines will not be enforced.

That is my understanding also because in the UK, it is the driver who is responsible for the fine as opposed to the registered keeper. In European countries, it is the registered vehicle owner.

I don't think you can blame the EU for this. It's because we want to keep doing it our way - independent thinking and all that

That's not quite right. The French form asks who was driving the car at the time it went through the radar. That is the person who gets the fine and points on their license.

Another thing. It is the CAR that's insured over here and any person with a valid license and permission from the owner can drive it. For instance all the valid family members can drive it on the same one insurance policy.

A friend of mine in Switzerland was sent the bill for entering the London LEZ twice last year in his old Land Rover, amounting to £1000 from a debt collection agency employed by TFL . as his number plate was not recognised by the system. Whether it could be enforced we don't know as he successfully appealed.
