Default RAC haggle: try it.

Sexist comment coming up. I only belong to the RAC because The Wife says I have to - when she's on her own. Fair enough, but I had the renewal through yesterday for just roadside breakdown assistance (inc tow for 10 miles). The fee asked was £45.99. As is my wont I checked the site and if I were to join today as a new member it would be £45. So I complained. They've now reduced it to £39.09 (odd amount?). So the moral is obvious . . .

PS I've never had to call them out.

I always have to do this, my annual renewal comes in for the full cover at £x and I ring them to a more affordable amount. Last year I got £45 off the figure and though I have not used for them for a long time I feel having it is worth a couple of pounds a week.

I got my renewal last month, frozen at the price I paid last year, £37

That's personal cover so covers me as a driver or passenger in any car.

I was pretty pleased with that.

The best way I have found is.

Use the agents who generally set up a stall in any of the town centres, one of them approached me and I got ;

Roadside Breakdown
Home Start
U.K. Relay

£9 monthly direct debit.

Sometimes its easier to be a new customer with the opposition each year and go through Quidco the cashback site, or take out Breakdown cover with your home/car insurance via Quidco and get your cover for free.
