Smile V62

How long for this v5??
Anyone with experince of buying a car without the v5
Tax ended 9/03/18 and the owner prior to me never got round to applying v62 since ownership was probably driving round pretending he stole it???.
However the date the tax ended suggest it was stopped by the owner prior to my seller in the middle of the month suggesting they've informed dvla they are not in ownership of the vehicle.
Done a check prior to buying which the report was good and the vin matched.
So hoping process will be as quick as it possibly could be is it worth hounding these people and hoping for an Express v5 via v62 route...
Thanks for any input.

Expect a delay of four to six weeks unless you send the V62 with the completed new keeper supplement from the current registered keeper's V5C. Unless the new keeper supplement is with the V62, the DVLA will write to the registered keeper for confirmation of the transfer and wait for a reply before issuing a new V5C.
