Braided brake hoses
I'll be getting the solid brake lines replaced soon, it's not urgent but was an advisory on the MOT so getting it done.
I figured it would be worth replacing the flexi hoses with some braided items while it's getting done, because, why not. I'm having a little trouble finding the right fitment though. the manufacturers don't seem to be able to decide whats what. EBC list one type for all ZTs and one for all 75 but my ZT has the same brake setup as a 75 so surely the hoses would be the same, the ones they have for the ZT are probably for the 190 setup. HEL, they have 2 for every engine option in the 75 and 2 for the ZT. Goodridge, I have been advised to avoid them due to them using banjo bolts so they don't fit. Can anybody point me in the right direction for a set of good braided hoses for a 2004 ZT CDTi saloon? It's a grey one, by the way (it may matter )

The 190 ones are slightly shorter. Rimmer's recently had 190 front hoses reduced to less than a tenner for rubber)

If so, do you have the part number for the HEL hoses?

If you want the one for the standard CDTi set up go with the 4 hose set HERE If you have converted to 190 set up, go for the 2 for the fronts HERE (4.6) and the 2 for the rears HERE (1.8)

Some Hydraulic hose makers will make them to order, the one local to me is great, I can drop the old ones in the morning and they are done in a couple of hours.

I think it may be best to let my mechanic source the hoses, that way it's his problem if they're the wrong ones and if anything goes wrong with fitting them.
The place i'll be getting the work done are also an EBC reseller so I may be able to get a better deal on EBC hoses. Since EBC have one part number for ALL ZTs and one for ALL 75s, I would assume some kind of foolishness on their part and that the ZT part is for the 190 and the 75 part will fit a standard ZT CDTi but there's no way to be sure without comparing the two so I'll just leave it to the mechanic.

I would look into it a little before you decide, in my opinion they are not as good as the good old fashioned rubber hoses.
Look good on bikes, but can't even be seen on a car.

I was told braided hoses would last pretty much forever but apparently that's not true and they are more likely to fail where they are crimped at the connectors due to the hose being stiffer and putting more stress on the connectors, It's also possible that they wear them selves out due to the metal braid rubbing on the teflon inner tube and on the outer sheath. Due to the hoses on my car likely being 15 years old now, I think it's time to replace them since the solid brake lines are being changed but I will have to rethink going with braided hoses or a set of good quality (probably TRW) standard hoses.

Braided hose doesn’t expand under pressure as rubber does.
