Wink VIS motor repaired

Hello
A VIS story:

My 75 started rattling a lot recently from the front of inlet manifold. I had suspected a VIS problem ever since I bought it in May 2006 but there had only been a slight "tinkle" before.
Lately I've also been getting around 18-20 mpg which is a little worrying even if it's mostly short trips around town.
Because of this I removed and dismantled the front VIS motor and found the following problems:
Both micro switches had soldering faults, one of them had a lead that was completely loose.
One of the switches had also failed internally and was open circuit all the time.
I got a new switch of a similar type, V4 size sealed with button actuation, from a local supplier and then exchanged the broken switch with this. The other switch was resoldered and both switches were superglued to the PCB with a specialist high strength glue I use at work.
This repair appears to have worked since the car is now free from any unusual noise and also seems to run much better then it has ever done in my care. The low rpm torque is much improved. (I can now run up a hill on half throttle that before almost required a kick-down to avoid slowing down). I have not yet checked the fuel consumption but I assume that will also show improvement.
I have a had a problem with juddering and this also seems to have disappeared.

The question I now face is: Should I remove and dismantle the other (rear) VIS motor as well? Is there any reason to suspect a problem with it?

Hi Tomas,

Welcome to the owners club.

You seem to know what your doing with the front Vis so it wouldn't be to hard for you to check/fix the rear one.

Tomas I was going to add your pictures but the link you posted does the job!

I would definitely do the back motor as well, most cars I work on have both vis motors faulty.

you need to test them as well as repairing the switches does not always work

Good job with the photos. I keep meaning to sort out the spare ones I have that are broken.

2 questions though,
Is there a way to test them without taking it for a drive, ideally on the bench?
Can the switches be bought online through some site?

I was thinking of a less expensive and closer solution for testing them. Is it not just a matter of 12v down the right terminal and correctly grounded?
