central locking
hi all
new poster have read lots of threads and some make for good reading i have a problem with my newly aquired 2000 1.8 auto club, when i press the button on the key to unlock the doors, the 2 front doors unlock no problem the back 2 doors don't but on the drivers side you can open from the inside but the passenger won't open from in or out. any ideas also reading the thread about the drain plugs on the front scuttle do you tale the white plugs out in the photo to check ??? many thanks top forum |

The doors have two locking states: locked and deadlocked. One has failed locked, the other deadlocked by the sounds of it.
It might be wires, the control unit (Body controller) or the latch itself. Easiest palce to start is with the connections at the Body controller, above the glovebox, but you'll need a wiring diagram. |

Yes it could well be related, it depends where your water is coming in.
The plenum drains allow water in through the heater and this is below the body controller. I had a problem higher up with water coming through a seam. Didn't wet the Body controller, but only by luck. So check your drains, but don't assume that this is the only way for water to get in. Others have had problems with windscreen finisher clips, too. just a quick update
went in the car today and both front doors open as they should and now the rear drivers side door also opens with the key fob, but the passenger side still doesn't but you can now open that by using the handle inside to unlock then it will open from in or out any ideas ?????????? |

I had to remove the door card from inside, remove the inner handle and pull the door card off (not easy) this will just about give you enough space to get your hand up to the lock, pull and push on all the links and cable and the door should open, failing that you will have to break the lock. Once off it is a simple job to replace and re-fit Good luck |
