Preferably with good quality parts that will last at least as long as the originals!

Especially in China where they are recharged with power from coal-fired power stations

Amazing doublethink of the man - he has polluted the planet for the last ? years and has the insolence to lecture others. Im 84 and my wife is 81 and would guess in our lives the actions and consumption of the earths resources that can be placed at our gate are most likely less than 1% of those and his acolytes . And we are most likely no different to millions of others in this world. Chris S.

Unless we stop breeding at the current rate, anything else is a waste of time. There are way WAY too many people on the planet.

Attenborough once said, correctly, that the Earth only has one problem - overpopulation. All the others stem from that.

Some have calculated that, for the Earth to recover, we need to reduce the current population by 80%.

Just wait until the viruses start popping out of the "extinct" animals that are defrosting in the not so Frozen North!

The population problem could be "solved" very quickly!

Agreed. Can you imagine the carbon footprint of his team? I'd guess thousands of times more than the average. Great programmes though. The reality is that the planet is a non-sentient lump of rock which cares not one jot what we do to it. We should care in the interests of our grandchildrens' prospects. Unfortunately all modern economic theory is based on positive growth which has led to overpopulation. We need a zero growth sustainable culture with a different economic model. One birth in China every two seconds. In India a newborn every second, in Africa two newborns per second. UK is not even on the scale.

There was a great sci-fi story I read many years ago as a comic strip. An archeological expedition had discovered picture records of an ancient fungus which had destroyed the previous civilisation. On the last picture in the strip, there was a small area at the side of the camp which no-one had noticed where a green slime was starting to spread. Do de do dee do dee

When on holiday in Greece, we witnessed the local 'Yoof' Hanging around near the beach on scooters, generally doing what young kids do, drinking and messing around.

When one of them accidentally dropped his drinks can, one of the others picked it up and walked to the bin and placed it in.

Now can you imagine that happening in the UK? It was nice to see kids behaving in a respectful manner, maybe there is hope for the planet after all.
