Default Speedo not working UPDATE >>>>>

Hi Guys, this has been ongoing for 6 months because of restrictions, my 75 connie tourer(diesal 2.0 tcdi), so ABS unit connector corroded because of leaky battery , because of water in ECU overcharging the battery, so new ABS unit fitted, (also new battery),ABS wiring harnes spliced in, brand new abs sensors on front wheels, but speedo not working, fully checked by the chap here in west yorkshire with Testbook unit, no issues with the sensors, no issues with the speedo, ABS unit paired to the car with testbook,it passed all the tests with testbook, no lights on the dash, so all self tests done ok, but no speedo, MOT in 4 weeks, any ideas, apart from stripping the down where the ABS wiring was spliced, no one seems to have a clue. All work carried out by a mechanic, not by me !.
Regards
Julian

Default Speedo not working

Have you ran the self teat on the speedo to ensure that is working?

Edit.. just read that you have, I’d be looking at the wiring then.

Yes mate, seems to be what others have said, as every test is good, but does the ABS have to be the identical unit, it was paired with T4 ?

Was the old abs sensor on the front driver's side wheel drilled out? if so the magnetic ring on the wheel bearing may be damaged.

The speedometer runs off the driver's side front abs sensor. It happened to me a few years back, needed to change the driver's side front sensor and it had to be drilled out. Must have drilled a tad too far (was being very careful as well) or got dirt trapped around the ring as fitted the new sensor and had no abs warning etc but no speedo reading.

It's a really unusual one this Andy
According to T4 and the other tests it should work, the live data to all four wheel sensors is ok and all read the same speed, it's communicating on Can bus with the IPK as it goes through the self check, fuses have also been checked.
Configuration has been checked and it's configured to the car.

Tried a replacement instrument pack still no Speedo.

Replacement ABS ECU was fitted and the wiring repaired by a mobile chap not myself

The only thing I can think of is a wiring problem where the new ABS plug and wiring has been spliced into the original loom that's where I'd be looking

Russ

Cheers Russ, I know you fully completed all tests successfully mate, it seems to be the consensus to investigate the wiring splice's, will check it on Saturday and post update, regards.

Although they may visually look good, you can still have a high resistance joint in the spliced plug...
