Default Classic VS Modern

The modern vehicle agenda;

I went to my local car auctions today, the first 70 cars that went through were all classics.

I couldn't help but notice the two sections of cars waiting their turn, it was a case of classic vs modern.

The sea of classic cars were glowing a ray of different colours and curvy shapes, where the modern consortium consists of bland shades and identical appearances.

The future is becoming indistinguishable, a uniform of the same kind, I fear us humans will be next.

Hi Dawn, These cars seem to fit both categories don't they, best of both worlds that may be why I have kept mine for so long.

Hi Bob, I went down there for a MGF, also a 2006 TF, but with the amount of rust both cars had I thought better of it.
Its safe to say the F in MGF stands for f****d, and the T is TF stands for Totally f****d?

I continued to bid on a 1980 MGB Roadster, and then a 86 Porsche 924, but I managed to stop myself bidding before the hammer fell. I was happy with myself that I managed to think sensibly for once, I wonder how long I can keep it up?

Hey Sasha, I think the jag sold for around £7,500, it was getting a lot of attention.

Mine’s an MG NF then Wes...........nearly f****d

924s are great cars, think they have galvanised bodies so rust isn’t a major issue.

Classics will always have more class.

These were the cars that truly won your hearts over completely depending what you were looking for.

Modern cars too me lack that spark in the interior/ exterior department.
just doesn't light my fire.

But she does.

I see the F went for £450 (with the fees etc on top). The TF did better.

How bad was the rust on the F?

It was awful Clive, far worst than my 96 plate. It had been treated with waxoil or something similar, but you could still see all the rust blistering. The corrosion dates back to 2015 on the MOT history, front and rear subframes, suspension components etc, even the exhaust had been painted and its mounts...

The bodywork looked great, but there was no history of the HG ever being done, unless I missed something. The F was on 59k, the owner must have thought its the right time to get rid, especially with the rot taking hold.

I laughed when I looked under the MGB, it was so thick with waxoil, it reminded me of fondant cake icing. Its a good thing these old old cars don't need an MOT, I'm sure many would just get left and forgotten.

I have a theory about the 40 year MOT exemption, I would imagine its to help the classic car heritage, to preserve what we have left. Taking vehicles over 40 years old out of the testing regime is most certainly going to help preserve Britain's classic cars, otherwise many of these cars wouldn't survive, what's your thoughts Clive?
