FBH, which pins for water pump

My FBH that I installed 2 days ago is not working.
I'd like to do some testing. I cant hear the fuel pump clicking and the fan seems to cycle on and off as if power is being flashed onto the fan and then removed.

There are two plugs on the top of the fbh, which pins power the water pump?

From where do I measure the glow plug resistance?



I will also try to follow this testing method from another member, the first test seems to fit. fuel pump seems ok as I had flashed 12v across it 2 days ago to pump fusel to the engine bay.

-At first, unplug then replug the power connector (or fuse F8) in order to reset the system.
-Start a run by connecting permanently Pin 3 to earth.(98570 type)
(To + batt in case of 66232 model)
Simultaneously start a TIMER and listen when the fan stops

IF stop after 3 sec, restart 4 seconds later and finally stop at 2 minutes 7 sec;
The error returned may be caused by:

-Battery voltage lower than 10 volts
-Glow plug open or short circuit
-Circulation pump open or short circuit
-Combustion fan open or short circuit
-Fuel pomp open or short circuit
-PCB defective

IF a weird turbine noise appears with a door’s opening e.g.,
the PCB is more likely faulty.

IF stop after more than 2 minutes 10 sec, then
PCB and all devices are good (except doubtful glow plug)

IF stop at 4 minutes 5 sec, Glow plug resistor too high (0,6 ohms for instance),

IF stop at 4 minutes 40 sec it is a ignition fault, (fuel pump priming fault)

So many of these heaters dont work when fitted and often the seller has no real knowledge of whether they work or not.

The FBH will run through a start up sequence to check all is ok and then and only then will it call for fuel and start to ramp up and do its stuff

The water pump does not have a pin it is controlled by the PCB and will be the only component that comes on when the FBH gets power and is started either in supplementary mode or parking heater mode and will remain on until the FBH shuts down either because the FBH is switched off or it has got to the required temperature and ramped itself down, it does this because it is used to cool the FBH as aswell as pump warm water around the system.

You can test the resistance of the glow plug with a meter across the 2 terminals, the plug from the glow plug is plugged into the PCB board and is located under the black plastic cover next to the 2 pin and 6 pin plugs, and is the plug next to the 2 pin plug, the plastic cover can be difficult to remove and the front clip is easily broken, get a flat bladed screwdriver at the back of it near the battery and push forward, this will then push the clip at the other end forward just enough to be popped off with a small flat bladed screwdriver.

It could well be your PCB that needs repairing and would be my first point of call, if it has 3 faults locked into its memory they will need clearing.

If you pm Devilish he has a couple of spare working boards and I am sure he would be willing to send you one to try on yours to see if thats the issue, pity you are so far away from us as we can help you to get it working and this weather they are worth their weight.

I will do some testing and then "speak" with Devillish if I cant find any other problem.

if the fans runs for 2 min 7 can I rule this out as being fault, the guide above suggests open or short cct.

Dozing pump is ok unless it has gone faulty in last 2 days

Battery voltage is 12v

so that leaves glow plug, pcb and circulation pump.

Glow plug is next test

This happened when I first tried to fire mine up (fbh is locking out) Check again that the dosing pump is working and fuel is at the fbh. Pull out fuse 8 and reinsert to reset.

I cant hear the dozing pump but two days ago when it as fitted it was working and there was fuel into the engine bay
