Default Woe, woe, and thrice woe!

...with due credit to Frankie Howard and the 'Up Pompeii' script writers.

It has been a woeful day. This morning I cleaned what appeared to residual bird poo from the bonnet. It turned out to be debonded lacquer. From sight of certain cars of other makes, the disease appears to be progressive, perhaps even runaway. Is anyone else suffering from this malady?

Took the Rover in for the original master cylinder to be replaced with a new one, sourced eventually from X-Part. It didn't match, let alone fit and has different Lucas reference numbers on the casting.

The car was also due for its MoT, but the garage spotted moth holes in both sills round the rear jacking points. My local body specialist of choice says he is currently making bookings for two months ahead.

What next, I wonder.....and fear.

Titter ye not Derek! Had the lacquer peel big time on Mrs Noc's previous car so we ended up scrapping it and getting one with spotless paint. It wasn't worth spraying and to be fair we had had our money's worth out of it.

My ZT has started issues with the lacquer on the roof and on the boot spoiler. Not sure if I'm going to get it sprayed or not yet as I'm concerned with the ever growing con of "Low emission zones" and I won't be able to pay £12 or what ever it will be to keep using the car.
I feel your pain with the bodywork. I wash mine regularly and try to keep it in good fettle.

Richard

Seeing your thread title it reminded me of the famous clip from this BBC series from 1997:

Was his surname not spelt 'Howerd'?

Have you sent the offending part back yet? If so, have you had a reply and explanation from x-part?

I've found the trade to be booked four to five weeks in advance and at least double that for bodywork. Guess it is a shortage of trained labour as I'm guessing Tony Blair's "50% of people must go to Uni" has had a massive effect.
