No RH (Drivers side) parking, main or dipped lights
Dashboard warning centre of my 2001 Rover is advising all three lights on the RH side are failed. HIghly unlikely all three bulbs died at the same time. Am assuming it's a wiring issue. Is there a likely location I should check first for this?
Many thanks, John |

Have you been playing in floods John?
There is a multiplug behind that area, low down. It'd be worth spraying it with a moisture disperser something like WD40, then working it by connecting and reconnecting. I think that's the only place those three lights connect. If that fails check their single connections towards the lights themselves. Good luck. |

Had front bumper off recently looking for the reason my headlight level thumb wheel no longer worked. Whilst there I discovered the earth points on top of both front legs were badly corroded, the O/S connected by only a few strands of wire. May be worth a look if all your lights have failed on one side. My lights do appear brighter since I repaired the earth points and my thumb wheel works again. .

Remove the bumper and check the wiring to the lights have not chaffed through on the chassis arm, which can happen. Add some rubber protection after checking has Rover did not use any. 1

earth point
Thanks all for your advice. No chaffed wires, but a loose earth point. The three earth wires for the three lights were not earthing properly due to a loose bolt. I suspect it's been like that from new, as not sure how the bolt would have worked loose. No corrosion or anything just a loose bolt. Tightening resolved the problem.
My mistake, only two wires at this ground point. http://www.john116.com.au/wire.jpg Last edited by john116; 28th March 2024 at 05:38.. |
