Default Advice on slave cylinder replacement please

Hi this is my first attempt at posting.
My clutch peddle has gone to the floor. After checking the master cylinder and finding no leaks I topped up the reservoir and bled the system. I managed to get the 45 miles to work and it went again.I re-filled the reservoir dropped the under shield and pumped the clutch and found oil dripping off the bell housing so I'm sure the slave cylinder has gone. My question is it advisable to change the clutch at the same time as the slave. The car is an 04 facelift cdti.Any advice will be much appreciated. Also does anyone know of a reliable garage that could replace this in the Portsmouth are.thanks

Hi, if the slave has gone you should get the clutch replaced as well as the clutch may become contaminated with fluid and besides it's not a quick job and you don't want to have to do it twice. I cannot recommend a garage I'm afraid. HTH

Hi Mark,
Yes, I you will probably need to change your clutch plate as well, as yours is probably contaminated with fluid.
As the gearbox has to come off to change the slave you might as well change the clutch plate anyway, as the cost of labour to do the job is high compared to the cost of the clutch anyway.
I can't recommend a local garage, but give Andy Willi a PM, and he may be able to sort you out - he gave me a quote that was far better than local garages..

It's important to use good-quality parts when doing this job - if a garage fits a cheaper replacement you'll likely be back to square one in the not-so-distant future.

If you can find a local 'friendly mechanic' that's happy fitting your parts, we have a variety of carefully chosen Slave and Clutch Kits for the 75 here - just pick your engine type:
CDTi Clutch Kit
1.8 Non-Turbo Clutch Kit
2.0 V6 Clutch Kit
1.8T / 2.5 V6 Clutch Kit

Good luck, whichever route you take.

Good stuff - just pick a good kit. It gets expensive otherwise.
