Ian and Mike,
It can be done with T4. I've had it activated on my car. Simon

It doesn't really matter Ian, it isn't done with T4, however if you download Phil's toolkit onto a laptop, suspend the antivirus, then unzip the file and then
enable the digital speedo Or as others have done, use TOAF to do the same job. Brian |

I can do it for you Ian using my BMW scanner software I seem to remember I did Simon’s for him too now that I think of it.
Give me a shout after the National Weekend when I’m a little less busy. EDIT: just seen Chris’s post, so looks like he’ll sort you out.

Digital speedo activation
Good question Ian! It was a few years ago now and it's hard to remember as I've had T4 connected on several occasions, but Reebs says it was him and he may well be right (he usually is!). I did not realise that it was done with a separate piece of equipment or I was told and I've forgotten. What stuck in my mind is that it's been lost a few times after diagnostic sessions and restored using only T4, hence my confusion.
Simon

T4 can’t put it on, well not the Omitec T4 out of the box anyway. Toaf or BMW Scanner units can by changing a particular number in the IPK code, but that then throws up an error message of ‘check sum incorrect’ when a T4 is later connected. Not a problem and T4 can be used in the normal way without affecting the modification.
The only problem is when rewriting any updates using T4 back to a car for example changing dealer options such as lazy lock, then T4 will rewrite the modified check sum digit back to its original thus loosing the digital speedo. Of course it’s entirely possible that the same laptop PC used to run T4 can have loaded onto it, the BMW scanner software or toaf, so perhaps that is what confused you Simon? |
