Yesterday travelled to Chatham docks for an epic day with my son Aaron. Weather just right while we explored various ships incl HMS Cavalier, the ropery and toured submarine HMS Ocelot which was amazing to look around considering she is recent history. Well recommended

Today, decided to fit the sub and amp in the boot of the tourer.

First problem, where to run power cable from battery through bulkhead... after much searching, ran to laptop and looked on the forum... bonnet release grommet it is.

After much scraped hands and fingers and blood dripping, wire successfully fed through.

Amp mounted, Sub mounted ( or rolled in - its a bass tube ). Next to route all wires along under the carpets... first clip holding carpets snaps.. the joy then the next clip holds but the carpets rips... arghh.

Finally all wiring located, time to remove stereo to connect up, and I did such a good job of fitting it in the first place, I spent 30+ mins trying to get it out.

Once out all connections made... turn on USB and viola... nice thumpy bass to irritate the neighbour.

Another job completed, albeit painfully.

Annual service time...

Oil filter
Fuel filter
Air filter
Pollen filter
5 ltrs of 5w-40 fully Synthetic
New air con belt
Checked EGR (disconnected last year), still spotless..

Got all of the above (less the oil) for 37.50.... long live the local motor factors... cheaper than Ebay..

Replaced the broken door lock mechanism (and left my mobile in the door cavity, a long story )

Spot the difference

What I thought would be a ten minute job turned into an hour, as the silver covers put on by a previous owner of my ZT-T had fitted ones with broken clips. Their solution to this was to squirt black sealant in every possible place

Anyway, eventually I was able to prize the old ones off and fit my newly painted covers to complete the next step of my restoration of the old girl.

Here is a picture of her taken many years ago showing her in her past glory outside SMC Rover in Slough I believe.

ATF change.

No idea when last done but it came out looking like Guinness / Coke.

3.8L came out and lovely Strawberry Jelly Red coloured stuff went in. Popped a bit extra in and let it mix, did the level check (oh how important it is to get it spot on 40 degrees when doing it) once mixed the extra bit I put in came out a dark red / brown. So in another week or two I'll do another change to flush it further.

Can't say I've noticed any change in the changes, possibly very slightly smoother but they were not bad at all before the change really.

This makes me glad to know that I kept my Original Mirror Covers so I can do the same one day - in actual fact everything I've changed on my car, (which some know is quite a bit) I've still got all the original parts!

A photo of the Advert for my car:

PS. Looking good Paul! (How's the Reverse Sensors coming along? Just give us a shout when you need a hand).
