Head lining
'52 Tourer
My headlining has started to come adrift above both rear windows in the cargo compartment. It is only minor at the moment, but will almost certainly spread. I've spoken to my upholsterer, who informs me that this often results in a complete new headlining as a temporary fix usually doesn't work for long. Just wondered if anyone else has come across this and, more importantly, how did you fix it? Unfortunately can't post pix. Thanks in advance Geoff |

Done 4 or 5 of the sedan headlinings.
Your trimmer is right, the glue mgr used goes rotten and crumbly . To do it properly you need to remove the headboard out of the car, strip the old head cloth off, completely clean all the old glue off prior to re glueing new head cloth. |

Easiest option is to source a replacement headlining from a scrapped car.

It’s not so much the glue that’s the problem it’s the foam backing which degenerates.
I’ve retrimmed the headlining twice on my SD1 Vitesse and just last year I re trimmed the head cloth and the door cards on my project 75. |
