Better to live in hope David, than merely exist without. Fortunately, Hope springs eternal.

The powers to be did this for Covid lockdown compliance. "We need to scare the s^it out of them with the new Omicron variant" so stated Dick Hancock.

In my fervent hope of avoiding official reprimand, you have a talent for rather apt nomenclature.

I'm not a political animal so don't shoot me, watching Fox news this morning, it seems the Chinese are buying vast tracts of land in the USA to build plants to manufacture batteries for ev's. A township (I forget which) has refused planning permission and so the company is suing them. Or trying. The proposed EV take up in the US is 67%, the actual take up is 7% . Americans aren't buying the stories. Makes one wonder how much Chinese influence is involved in our government decisions?

I see the Volkswagen e-Up is on the list.
Is it built in Yorkshire?

The Australians had the right idea when they threw the spanner in the works of the Chinese when they were buying up land in Australia. They stopped them buying it. The Chinese did not like it and threatened retribution. I think the Aussie’s are still waiting for it.

Perhaps they're going to stop selling poorly made car parts to the down under denizens.

Again, the Yanks will have issues in the rural parts of the 'good 'ole USofA', just as they are having installing (never mind upgrading) broadband (track down the news item on that one). The one bright point is that they will have more "driveway" installation possibilities.
