I had the shoes put right on mine about 8 months ago but it still needs to be pulled up five notches when parked on a 35-degree slope. Four notches is maybe enough but five feels safer.
Would this mod change that? |

I would say yes you would proberly get it on three notches and hopefully it should stay like that your five will soon be 7 and more as time goes by Arctic.

Hi Arctic,
Can you put me down for a modified compensator please? If you still have stock, can you PM me with details of payment etc. and I'll take one straightaway? I live in France but can get the part sent to a UK address if easier and can pay by Paypal, UK bank cheque or Visa card. Thanks, Julian. |

Fit a modified compensator and your adjustment should stay put for years, but I would suggest that the adjustment at the hub always needs to be checked as well, because people (mechanics included) do tend to set it with too much clearance, then take up the excess at the adjuster nut under the handbrake lever. Adjust at the hub first, get that spot on, then set the adjuster nut so the wheels spin just free, but handbrake is starting to work at 1 click, working at 2 and on solidly at 3 clicks. Making good use of the handbrake is also a part of the formulae for having a good handbrake - it needs to be used frequently to keep the rust off the inner drum.

Mod.
Hi Dave, I bought the replacement from you last week and was going to wait for my m.o.t. before getting it changed but decided to do it myself today. I did everything as per photo's but I could not move the carpet. After 2 1/2 hours it started to rain so I gave in and cut the carpet. All done now, just got to try and superglue the carpet over the tunnel. My compensator was well and truly stretched so quite happy now. I will post the old one to you next week. Many thanks. John.
