When you consider what you would pay to buy a new “maintenance light” car, new or just a few years old, tied in to main dealer servicing to maintain warranties, insurance and depreciation, only minimal savings for economy in the 20 years since our cars were new, the cost of repairing ours is very low by comparison.

The downside i see these days is almost every month something needs to be fixed.

Seized brake caliper one month, broken spring another, window regulator snapped the next.

To mitigate this i keep 2 of them. Always confident one or the other will be ok.
