Default Breaking a Mk 2 ZT CDTi & build quality

Today I neared the completion of breaking my 262,000 mile 2004 car which was only taken off the road in December 2016 following the second failure of the clutch slave cylinder. So i bought an identical (inc colour) car from 2005 which i still run today.

The car i have been breaking came apart so easily with little effort / seized bolts / nuts etc and the amount of corrosion (other than on the wheels) on the body is absolutely minimal. Shows how well built it was and a credit to Rover.

BTW i run Mk1 ZT 190 and 260 and have not noticed any great difference with build quality to the two Mk 2 CDTs i have. Indeed, both Mk2s have been ultra reliable on 25k miles per annum whilst the Mk1 190 had a replacement engine before I purchased it.

What about sound proofing ? any signs that that was cut back in the later cars ?

I do find my 2005 Cdti very very noisy. (engine and road noise)

Pete.
