I read somwhere about taking the blades off and soaking them overnight in mineral oil, then wipe clean and wash off with washing up liquid. It's supposed to "refresh" the rubber content! I've never had the doodahs to do it myself but has anyone else heard of this method?I worried about oil streaks on the screen!!!

Tried taking my hearing aids off, but can't hear the wife when she tells me what shop we are going to.

When the blades stop after you have finished using the car they always lay over the same way. After a while this introduces a one way set to the blades.--Now and then I push the arm slightly down and let it spring up. Over night this reverses the normal set of the rubber and the overall effect is for the rubber to be approximately in the same position as it was when the wipers were first fitted. They then wipe well and with no noise.-------

When i changed the blades the fitter noticed there was a problem with arm, tried twisting it, no difference. Bought a new arm, still not right. Spent some time with white vinegar, it has improved. Will apply some more again when it stops raining.

You may have tried twisting it, But have you twisted it in the right direction? it mught take a few times to get it right. It has always worked for me

Have a glance at my earlier post. This arm twisting is to compensate for the set in the rubber that takes place after a few months because the rubber at rest is always pushed to one side.---
If you do as I suggested there'll be no need for this arm twisting.

When you get a chance have a look at the bend in the rubber of your wipers when they are at rest. You'll see exactly what I mean.----

Number 6 and Colvert. : At the moment there is a new (used) arm on there. There has been improvement with the vinegar cleaning, so will try giving that some more attempts.
