Has anybody tried the method by the OP in post number one ???

If so, did it work out OK ??

I did it from the top John but before this thread was posted. Like one of the other posters, I found it really tight getting the old alternator out and the new one in.

Hi Mike.

Would you say that getting the alternator out from the top the best way ??

Attacking the job from the bottom seems to involve so many other things.

I haven't tried it from underneath, but when I first looked at the job I thought it would be easier from the top, and I'd probably do the same again.

I've also done it from the top, and it seemed easy enough. I haven't done it from below, so can't comment on which method is easiest.
