It’s shocking that this type of damage is so frequent now and we’re all just supposed to put up with it. Never used to be this bad although I remember when luxury cars had 13” wheels...
If there are any app developers out there how about this: make an app that can detect the shock of a pothole (should be easy) and GPS tag it for claim purposes? I’m no good with apps but I’d use one that did that. I live in West Berks but I always know when I’m in Oxfordshire on my commute, as my fillings begin to quiver. There’s even a new slip road on the A34 with a massive yump just as you get up to speed. In fact thinking about it, that app would use a lot of memory with all the holes I dodge every day, the Botley Road is like a war zone... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I wish it were that easy, the sunken drain cover I drove over which caused the damage to my wheel, after waling back to take a look had been marked with paint by whoever responsible for highway maintenance in the local authority. When I complained to the council, I was met with every type of balking technique in the book in avoidance of liability. All in all, at the end of the day it cost me a Michelin Pilot sport tyre and a dented wheel, but the cost could have been much worse, such as if a cyclist or motorcyclist had ridden over the defect. The council repaired the cover the following day, if that wasn't any sort of admission of liability I do not know what is. Although annoying, it could have been much worse. |

What I did with my Rover 75/MG ZT today?
That’s the problem, every type of Nationalised institution, be it NHS, GP, Councils still have that “the caller is wrong” entrenched ability to avoid any liability. That’s one of the few good things that in general, privatised institutions do better.
I speak as one who has worked for both types over the last 35 years... Ps of course I refer to the front counter, not the foot soldiers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I am dropping the car off after work today to a company who specialises in repair of aluminium wheels, they guarantee that the repaired wheels will be good as new. Cost will £60 each wheel plus VAT. I will see how good the job is when I pick up the car tomorrow after work. |

You can make a request to the council for when the paint was marked round the offending hole. I believe they have 28 days to repair it from the date it was marked. In the case of A roads that are defective, you can serve on the council , I think it is a section 56 ( not sure if that is the correct number) notice and they are given a period of time to repair by the government because they get a grant from the gov to repair A roads, and this money can not be diverted to any other pet scheme of theirs. In our area, the councillor and leader of the council go round ad hoc looking for potholes. Works quite well.

Took goldie for a retest now the drop link and track rod end had been changed.
The mot stated offside track rod had failed. No play at all when I tried it, looked at the nearside and it had the yellow mot pen marked on it! Turns out the tester had written the wrong side on the sheet?!? Another 12 months on the old bus 👍
