ZR for Sale by a Numty
It beggars belief !
If you see this on the road AVOID as it seems the owner is uninsured. Registered as a 1.4 but has a 2 litre engine in it. Hope the Authorities see this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...E:B:SS:GB:1123

See cars like this quite a lot on Barry Boys. Numpties whacking in a bigger engine & not informing the DVLA or their insurance.
I bet it doesn't half move though.

Don't remember that, but I do remember someone putting one or it maybe a K Turbo, into a R25/Rover 214 bubble. It was quite well documentated on .Org. But it was all done legally.

There are plenty of T series conversions of 200's, 25's, ZR's etc. Even a couple of 400 bubbles. Someone also did a Kv6 200!
Afaik a T turbo 75 or ZT would be nigh on impossible due to electrics, gear box, shafts, mounts etc. Last edited by teethgrinder; 10th March 2009 at 06:33.. |

I'm tempted to report to his local police.
I've just checked with work. (I work for an insurance company) It's a little complicated regarding insurance. If the registered DVLA details do not match the vehicle and insurance is taken out on the registered details then the insurance is void. In the event of an accident we would refund any money paid on the policy but would not provide any cover in the event of a claim. If a vehicle is changed whilst insured then as long as the insurance company is mmediatly informed cover is valid however we would tell the policy holder to update the DVAL immediatly. Upon renewal we would insist on the DVLA details being up to date or no insurance would be provided.

Just spoke to Leicestershire constabulary about the legality of this car not being registered correctly and the answer I was given is as the car may not be used on the road it is perfectly fine. It could be a show car.
If the car was driven on the public highway it would be illegal. As there is no evidence of this it is not a crimina offence. As such they are not interested.

Definately do it, for the safety of other motorists. When he inevitably causes an accident, some poor NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- will get shafted when this guys insurance doesn't pay out.. If he even has insurance that is. Not only has he not informed the DVLA or his insurance about the change of engine, he's encouraging the new buyer to do the same!
People like this give car modifiers a bad name, and it hacks me right off..
