At last both my sandstone leather gaiters arrived!
Post is as reliable & fast as ever here: I sent a letter a week ago and the addressee is still waiting for it! I'm fed up!
Same trick for my gaiters: I bet they traveled on a donkey! Good quality leather, probably pig but may be veal, I can't see the difference myself. Good thickness, nice grain and nearly perfect matching colour. The main job was actually taking off the worn black ones, because both gaiters had been glued. Not too difficult but I needed to do a good cleaning of each supporting plastic bit before putting on the new ones in place. It was easier to take off the auto gear knob & rod. I think it is used to be taken off now... I glued both gaiters with neoprene glue. Ten minutes wait after gluing both supports and then you shouldn't fail because it's gripping immediately. Obviously they gave a large bit of leather, it might have been a tad less high, and just a mistake done on both front holes of the auto box gaiter: a bit too close one from the other, and in that only spot the leather being calculated a bit mean, I'd to stretch the leather to do the trick. But it worked. I'm rather pleased with the result, that's the main point after all! Before: pict. 1/3 After: pict. 2 & 3/3.

MOT day -5
First MOT (in French: contrôle technique, every 2 years) of my ownership.
I'm shaking in my boots... Hence I've to achieve before the general inspection & service of the car. Appointment made for tomorrow at my good & reliable mechanic's. - Oil & filter service (last one done last year) after 6.5k miles (a tad more than 10k km). Rover filter bought at DMGRS & Shell Helix Ultra 5W40. - Full renewal of the rear drums. I don't know when it was done for the last time, but I haven't any bill about that since 2013. - Full renewal of A/C gas. Same remark as immediately above. - As I'd bought from Matt (DMGRS) Rover 75 / MG ZT Ultimate Undertray Fixing Kit (Bolts and Clips) KZM000040 & KZM000050, the undertray will now be definitely tightly fitted (it's standing rather well but some missing fixing bits & others a bit battered). I've asked as well a good overview of the car to avoid a deep disappointment.

Back from the mechanic's
- Oil & filter service: done.
- Full swap of rear drums: done. He didn't want to hold the lever too tightly: he did it once in a BMW but the metal expanded a tad too much and the drums were touching the wheel even when released. He told me to come again within a few weeks and he will do a tighter adjustment. The guys at the MOT are always tiresome: always they criticize that the stroke is too large. He told me to explain to us the reason & the following cure, even 7 'clicks' here are considered as normal among the mechanics. But the fewer the better at the MOT... Don't try to understand... Truth here, mistake there... - A/C gas: done. My honest guy told me that after all a complete renewal was unnecessary (beforehand nevertheless he'd told me that he was doing only the full job...) hence that was only filled up with a small amount of gas and the system was in good order. I can rely on him: he's always verifying twice or generously taking enough time when he does it once. - The whole undertray fixing kit was done, every bit changed & greased. - He couldn't test the lambda but he doesn't see any reason why it could be bad with E85. On the contrary. - He found the car very classy & in very good order: I think it may be the effect walnut console & sandstone gaiters as well! And regarding my 205 front tyres & 195 rear, it will not be a problem: I asked the MOT Monday last when making the appointment: if the brand admitted both dimensions, then that will do provided every axle is coherent which is precisely the case. Ready for my 1st MOT Monday next. I'm thrilled...

MOT passed OK!
Phew! I'm relieved. No one can say what oddity they can blame you for...
Just 3 minor advisories: - Brake pad. The ABS wire much too close and badly fastened. CORRECTED at 4.15 pm at my mechanic's! - Something about the exhaust impossible to control with OBD. Preposterous and nonsensical! It's absolutely normal with a 1999 75 OBD, everything isn't able to be tested. But the requirements are new since the 1st of July last! Useless but for new cars... - Fog lights. It's an old silly joke here: with French requirements no fog light is clean! The orientation is just approximate and not adjustable. And another one the guy was very nice to omit on the paper: my front left indicator lamp was functioning but badly clipped, hence weak light. CORRECTED. It's now shining. BTW the exhaust results are just brilliant with full E85: - CO at idling: 0 - CO in revs: 0 - Lambda: 1.001 (Should be between 0.97 & 1.03) I can walk tall and drive to La Rochelle to bend over my British gg granddad's grave next Saturday!
