Is there a Gardener out there who can identify this carbuncle?

On a partially removed tree at the bottom of my garden, the tree being dead and overhanging my neighbour's garden. The best way to remove it without spores exploding would be good!

Well done Ron. I think there's eight of 'em. Blighters. In fact, not mush room for many more.

If that really is Laetiporus suphurous then lucky OP. Yum Yum. I'm afraid I'm not qualified to confirm - but does look like it. I have a trained horticulturalist that often donates variouss mushrooms to me. And I've had this before - often called chicken of the woods - because cut it into strips a quarter inch thick and saute in butter and that is what it tastes like. You should harvest it and enjoy if you can confirm the species.

I would not advocate to eat it, the last thing you want is a fungus poisoning, leave it as a decorative plant on the tree

To be honest Steve, I thought if I tried to catch it, it would eat me. The last thing I would do is stick a knife in it. As, although the tree root is in my garden but it hangs over next door's fence, it's theirs to do with as they wish. If the worst happens and it falls off, I hope Gravity takes over and the remains go next door.

Ensuing conversation: What's that Henry? A growth? Naw mate, nowt to do wi' me.
