Air con O ring lubrication.
I'm thinking of fitting my air con condenser and replacement pipework next week. I have some new O rings for the joints but I'm wondering about lubrication when fitting. I imagine PAG oil would be preferable but I don't want to buy a full bottle just to use a smear so I'm wondering if it's okay to use petroleum jelly or silicon spray which I already have in the garage ?

I changed mine about 4 weeks ago .
If you can stretch to it change radiator at the same time. It just makes sense you can build the whole package up with new rad everything cleaned ect and then you know that it's all sorted. Now I'm sure someone will shoot me down as they usually do . But I just glanced over the seals with WD 40 Had a re gas and no issues with it. While it was in bits I cleaned everything on the engine and inner wings. Wire brushed front of X member rust proofing along the way .

Hmm ! I have some red rubber grease but I've googled molykote and it claims to swell the rings for a good seal. Just need to find a local supplier as I can't wait for ebay.
Any other suggestions welcome Gents. |
