Oh OK that's fine, I'll make sure I have the cash for you. Really looking forward to the new set up, something to play with ready for the drive home

Hi Eamonn,
No, I did email the seller and have a bit of a moan about the shipping from China, he did replied, saying that if there was any duty to pay he would refunded me, but I got away with it (this time)

I got my Chinese unit in duty free as well
Strange how big items like this can get in but you often get caught for little packets . Have you powered the unit up yet?

Yes I powered it up yesterday as soon as I got it (I know I am a big kid)
It seem to have more depth of picture than the Extrons unit, the in-build GPS has a much quicker pick up time that the other unit, the TMC works very well, on my PDA unit it normally take about 10 minutes to start picking up the traffic messages, this one get them with in 20-30 secounds. The in-built Digital TV is great, I tried it this morning on my way into work and I got coverage around 85% of the time, with the Extrons unit I only ever got 30-50% on my way into work (not that I normally have the TV on when driving) So far I am more than happy with the unit, the only thing that worries me is, it seem quite a deep unit and until I get the 2din from from Germany, still I will just have to wait and see if it fits okay in the radio opening.

If you measure the depth of the unit I may be able to give you some indication as to the amount of space available with the fascia fitted. My Kenwood fitted much easier than the previous Eclipse. Edit: just had a look again at the rear of your unit, Tony. Some of your connectors are very low down on the back. You may have to remove the black plastic "lip" from the car dash opening to allow the unit to sit back far enough.

Width 180mm Height 100mm Depth without the connectors attached 175mm, so you could probably add another 10/15mm for the cables. Seems like the depth should be no problem, but the height looks on the large side. I thought double din was 4 inches/100mm high If the unit is that high then I doubt it will fit the standard fascia. You may have to remove the top bar like Rob (Trebor) did. Shouldn't really be a problem, though.

Well, I finally managed to get a 2 din mount from beerhunter, who kindly loaned me his original setup, so I could install the new head unit, I still have not received the E46 one from Germany, I have now taken up a claim via PayPal,
But here are some pictures of the unit installed. The sat nav is IGO8 version 8.43 and yes I even have my car as the icon on the map screen The head unit has GPS, TMC, RDS Bluetooth DVB-T, DVD Player, I don't think there is much else that could come with a head unit.

Is the HU sitting a little proud of the fascia, Tony?
Sorry to hear about your problems with the fascia Seller. I never dealt with them myself so apologies for pointing you in their direction.
