Cliff

Depends on mileage
Most original pumps make it to 120k

The OAT won't affect anything if it's at the correct strength
ie 25% and NOT 50% ...............MGR got it wrong.
Plenty written on this subject if you do a bit of digging

Been enjoying the epic threads, so the key is 25%.

Yes 25% still gives full protection down to -20C and full corrosion protection as I've proved time and time again over the last 12 years or so.

I have three cars that I am trying to restore/protect, and keep going.

1 - My 2004 Ex-MGR Management Rover 75 Contemporary SE 2.5 Manual Tourer with every extra. I've had it three years now and has had literally thousands spent on it. It still needs work and this work will be done as and when funds allow. Thankfully it is has been retired from full time work so this makes it much easier. I've learnt the hard way with this car, in terms of not trusting "regular" garages to work on the engines of these cars, and not to buy cheap parts. However, it's a stunning and very useful vehicle, and I feel that it needs to be protected and preserved. I've no idea if facelift Rover 75 prices will ever rise but I get such pleasure from driving it anyway.

2 - My 2004 MG ZT 190 SE. I owned this car between 2009 and 2011 when it was pretty much mint, and bought it back in 2017 rather worse for wear. It needs everything doing. Belts are due again, which will be done, but I'm also hesitant (as mentioned above) to change the water pump due to lack of quality replacement parts. The waterpump was changed in my previous ownership in 2011 by our local MGR dealer so I'm tempted not to change it, as there are no issues with the old one. What do you folks think? Again, this car will purely be a weekend and show car. The SE model was so limited in the first place, I'd like to try and preserve this one.

3 - I also have a 1985 Austin Montego 2.0HLS (only 4 HLS examples left) that I am trying to restore. It's been off the road for about 20 years, and it really is the definition of a 'barn find'. Although the Montego is easier to work on than the 75/ZT, the Montego suffers famously from rust, due to poor body protection from the factory. This is another car I feel compelled to look after and protect.

It's nice to know I'm in such good company.

Own 2 75s. One with 35k, other with 239k on it. Both used daily. Planning on running the one with 35k for another 10 years as do nearly 20k a year. Meanwhile get kids through education then i can buy a newer car. Maybe jag or merc.
Nothing like these 75s for the money.
