Default Cruise Switch - Clutch - Set on Steering Stopped Working

Hi my cruise control has stopped all of a sudden.

I can select the button on the centre console and the green light comes on, however I can't set it on the steering wheel.

I've had a look at the small white switch behind the clutch pedal but it appears flat. I was expecting a small button to stick out like s micro switch to make and brake a contact. But as I've no idea what it should look like it could be ok. I did press it from the back and it seems to pop forward on its serrations quite easily. So I wonder if the serrations are worn and it won't hold against the pedal anymore??

Is there an image of the switch anywhere so I can compare mine against a good one?

Any help appreciated,

Rich

Hi Rich,

Not so simple as a microswitch ;it's hall effect system (like ABS sensor's)

There is on this forum a "How to" to replace /fit , somewhere....found ...

Hall effect ... now there's something I didn't know, I'll be Googling that then instead of watching a Downton Abbey catch up with my good Mrs, that's for sure.

Ill check the fuse tomorrow seems its Pos:41 10amp in the passenger footwell. But as the fuse also serves the reverse lights I guess its simple enough to test now its dark!!

I rather suspect its something more sinister thought than a simple fuse popped.

Even more worrying was a slight drip of oil hanging off the clutch pedal .... Oooooo hope its not me clutch master on the way out was well :-(

Default Cruise - has come back on again

After fiddling with the white switch at the top of the clutch pedal, I drove to the car this morning and ...... Hey Presto! The cruise control now works!! HAPPY DAYS :-)

I wonder if the switch serrations are only just keeping forward toward the pedal enough and if the clutch is let go a little too fast then it pushed back a bit and then wont work correctly?

Anyway.. hope that help.

I might put a dab of glue or small cable tie to help keep it in place up against the pedal.

Cheer for all the help re this post.

Rich

Now for the worrisome clutch pedal leak :-(

Will do Mike, have left the cover off so will take a picture. Probably over the weekend. I'm curious to see what fluid is in the pot!

Default Mike - Master Cylinder Pic

Hi Mike, this is the mater cylinder on my car. I guess its a plastic one?

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...2001%2058.jpeg

I have wiped off the small drip under the top dust cover. But there is still some residue there. I wonder if I should check the MCylinder fluid level? I hope its not on its way out?

Hmmm

Anyway, many thanks again, Rich.

Yes Rich,it's the one i depict.

Check the fluid level ;
if found correct, no worry ,disassemble the quick fit connector ,then remove the pin :
this allows the pipe to stay in place.

clean all the parts you can
(including the small valve at the piston end).
Renew the fluid ,bleed and see.

BTW , I have received and repaired your PCB
you have a PM

Mike
