After yet more rain & strong winds these shots from the same location as above show the water situation as of the 20th February 2020 with the level much higher.
As can be seen the level is much higher & choppier with the water covering the shoreline completely right up to the road & pedestrian pathway retaining wall. The landing stages are now completely submerged, with the boathouse in 2nd pic completely surrounded, whilst the yacht in the last pic is actually sitting where the shoreline would be. John.

Superb photos, full of detail, life and atmosphere. I really like the way you frame the photos, as though they are floating.
I had a good result from my scan in London and have been given more time before the next scan in 6 months. We are keeping well. I am in the UK for 2 weeks before returning to Kenya, then Jessica and I, are flying to the Western Cape in South Africa for 2 months to start a building project and to check on the fire breaks. We are to convert a farm store which used to function as a concrete water reservoir with solid foundations and thick walls. The existing build is in the style of Dutch Cape with white painted walls. The first floor will have a 3 Bedroom apartment and underneath will be a drive-in garage. We are building for the family and the generations to come. It is in a beautiful setting of the family vineyard and from the slopes, we can see Table Mountain and the Cape of Good Hope. Sometimes the sunsets are quite breathtaking as though the sky is on fire with a red and orange glow, so I am hoping for good photo opportunities. Next week Jessica is contacting the builders to see if they are able to make a start when we are there. If they can't, we will be delayed in going. John and Jan, I hope you are both keeping well. As the days start to get longer, tulips and daffodils start to flower, a good sign. I am really looking forward to seeing more photos from you |

As can be seen from the previous set of pics from this location, this was the scene this afternoon 27th February 2020 the water level in comparison with the shoreline & landing stages has dropped somewhat.
Again,as can be seen in the last pic, there is quite a substantial amount of Flotsam & Jetsam having been deposited on to the foreshore, following the high water & strong winds that have prevailed. John.

Peace & Tranquility return to Derwentwater, for the time being at least, this was the scene on the 5th March 2020 with the water like a millpond & very nearly back to normal level.
The foreshore having been cleared of Flotsam & the landing stages apart from some damage are reasonably clear of the water, roll on Summer. John.
