Tyre chat does seem to bring out the 'pub experts' and silly comments, that's why my nexuns will be Nexens! Sorry

My father said to me when I was looking for new tyres for my motorbike when I was 17 ''think that is all that is keeping you out of the ditch when it rains''.

As has been said if you cannot afford decent tyres for your car maybe you cant afford to run a car? If you are tight that is your call but personally I like my car on the black bit the right way up.

Look what manufacturers fit when it was made, I am sure if they thought they could get away with fitting ''budget'' tyres they would. Even Dacia's come out of the factory with either Michelin or Goodyears.

A final word from me on this make sure you fit the correctly rated tyres, I have a customer who thought he would save a few £'s on his tyres for his Audi, in his words he never went above 100mph so why fit tyres that can do that? They were a decent make but S rated and his car was supposed to have V rated, he was unlucky enough to be involved in a crash on the M4, nobody hurt but his car needed a new bumper, headlights and some repair work to the bonnet and wings. With the labour £3k, the insurance company would not pay out because he had the wrong tyres fitted to his car. He even went to court but lost. The £100 he saved did not go far towards the bill for repairs.

go to ASDA they sell all the best for a lot cheaper than your local garage,

Also never buy Chinese tyres as they are made from 90% plastic

always buy , 1, British 2, German , Italian.
