First I opened the key by removing the back panel, (battery access) only to see the tiny "break circuit switch" had come adrift from the circuit board; thus the circuit was in fact `open', since the switch bridges terminals on either side. Holding this in place and gently pressing the remote `unlock' it worked... I'm free. lol.
At present I have 2 keys, *( BigRuss has a PM.) one uncoded and the other with a temporary `fix' with believe it or not ... cellotape.!!!
Yes it's funny but, at least my car is driveable albeit to get me to the nearest micro-circuit company a.s.a.p or to purchase a micro, cold-solder iron and affect a good repair.
*Moral is ... get your second key coded now before you get locked IN. hahaha. Mike. aka "dummy."

Having puhased a cold micro solder Iron, battery powered, I did the job today in about 15 mins. Used a tool called "Helping hands" from Maplins to counter my shaky grip due to longevity. All is now ok but stll need a new key from BigRuss a.s.a.p. *note although the front panel complete with blade is inter-changeable, the rear (battery access) is NOT as it holds a small unit unique to each circuit.
