Default Can someone please tell me what this is/does

Hi all, my son and I were recently removing the blower motor out from my sons Rover 75 Tourer 2.0 CDTi, and he's accidentally broken a white piece of plastic under the driver side of the dash which looked a bit like a little fog horn/funnel!

The plastic was on the end of a tube that leads to a very small grill behind the left hand side of the steering wheel, it looks to be an air intake for when recirculating air within the car. We are trying to find out if it's something we need to replace, and what part we need to be looking for if so!

Thanks in advance for any help.

I believe it's part of the air con system. The small grill is for monitoring cabin temperature I think.

Probably something I need to sort then, do you have any idea where I can get hold of the part?

I'd give Rimmers a call to see if they can help. The part is probably listed somewhere on their web site, but not sure how they would categorize it.

Which part have you broken, the original isn’t a very good fit, I’m sure you would be ok glueing it back in place.

yeah that's not a bad shout, thanks Cliff.

Trikey - he has completely shattered the plastic cone that goes on the end of the tube, the actual tube itself seems fine

Almost anything that will form a tunnel will do the job. Perhaps a piece of the tapered section of a funnel plus some sticky tape would work effectively.

An air connection is all that's needed, nothing fancy.---
