Default Parking Sensors Again

Changed me car August last year, Conny SE CDTi Auto Tourer
Everything was fine till Thursday just gone.
Selected reverse and got the long beeeeeeeep.
Turned the engine off then turned the ignition on without starting the engine.
Selected reverse and checked for the sensors for clicking sound.
Couldn't hear anything, no clicking from any of them.
Me thinks.
All sensors wouldn't fail all at the same time so is it the case of:-
1) One sensor failing stops the others from clicking.
OR
2)That junction in the loom failing stopping the sensors clicking.

Could members in the know please advise what to check first and in what order to check things in.

ANY advice will be gratefully recieved.

Al

You are right re 4 sensors failing all at once- i had the long beep 2 years ago - it was corrosion in the connector that bridges the sensor loom to the parking ECU.

Where would that be on a tourer?

The parking ECU is on the RHS behind the trim at the rear of the tourer as you look at it -the bumper has to come off to reveal the connector between the ECU and the 4 sensors .

And the ECU is white in later cars and black in earlier cars - as you have an 03 would think it will be a white box - 5 inches square.

I had the same issue with mine recently. If you slide under the car you should be able to see the connector between the car and the bumper (its normally clipped to the metal frame). Un-plug the connectors from each other and give them a good clean with some electrical contact cleaner, particularly the connector coming from the car.

This solved my issue for a year or so but it reappeared last week. Being at home I decided to replace the harness cable (YMD001580) on mine (52 tourer). If you find that you have the older wiring loom (YMD112321) I have one here that I ordered in error you would be welcome to.

Not a bad job to do and you can also take the opportunity to seal the fixings that allow water into boot.

I took the easy way out. Had bumper off for painting so put in a set from e-bay.

Me too and have had no problems apart from the odd misread during heavy rain (which also happened with factory sensors!). Cheap as chips too!

The silver were a good match for my Zircon silver!

Cheers to you ALL.
I'm going to have a look at cleaning that connector without taking the bumper off as suggested.
I'll let you all know how I get on.
