Default Weird emails

I received a series of emails today, from someone whom I assumed from the first name was actually someone I knew, first asking me to confirm I had received it as their email out was unreliable, which I did. Their name was that of a male.

Then they asked me to confirm my phone number, then my mobile number which I did. They have included their mobile number to me.

All of the emails were rather odd, in as much as if they were badly typed/ mis-spelled.

The final one had its first paragraph in Welsh, with an apparently software derived translation below it in English. The English matched word for word Googles attempt to translate the Welsh into English.

Annwyl oll gan fod problem wedi codi gydar ebost methu a setio i fynnu yn outlook gydar setting penodlo dymar ebost dwy ei ddefnyddio a fyddech cystall a dileu yr un blaenorol a denfyddio y cyferiad hyn ogydd

Have I got a stalker, or is this some new fiddle, or might it even have a genuine purpose?

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Default If it were me

Report it as Spam and block sender too while you are at it.

If you remember pyramid selling these things work in a similar way. They can capture your saved adresses and send similar to them and so on. I have no idea as to the purpose of these but it ain't to your benefit you can be sure.

I hope you didn't click on any links in the mail you got and I would certainly run a virus check like now!

Don't want to scare you at all but.......!

When you say confirm your email harry, did you give it to them or did they give your email to you and ask you to verify it?
Same for Phone number...

All resolved after a phone call to the number - He (a foreign sounding guy) is a radio amateur who he said knows me from way back, but he had lost my contact details apart from what he had scribbled on a bit of paper.

A little less murkier than mud, but not that much and I didn't push it any further.

Translated..... Google rarely manages to translate anything from Welsh into English

Thanks, but I'm still puzzled as to why he was writing to me in Welsh, he didn't sound Welsh at all and was struggling with spoken English.

do you know every region and dialect of his country?
Maybe he was trying to cover all of the bases?
