Default Photo Management Software

For many years I have used Thumbs+ for many years to manage digital images, but, since upgrading to Windows 7 it is refusing to generate thumbnails. Nikon's ViewNX manages perfectly well. Thumbs+ is particularly valuable to me because I have thousands of family photographs going back to 1860, many of them repeated, and Thumbs+ is very good at finding similar images. Cerious software have just introduced TP8 but the problem is not solved.

Does anyone know of any othe software that is not silly money which compares images?

Thank you.

Only proper packages for Windows 7 that I know of are Adobe Photoshop which I use,
most of the "free/cheap"" stuff just don't work or compatible.

The full Nikon Capture NX doesn't work on Windows 7 according to Nikon, unless you update to: Capture NX 2.2.4 currently £172.99
I am sure someone will find you something suitable though...............

I use - Microsoft Digital Image Suite.

It is not the best in the world but should work with Windows 7 and is not that expensive. It does what it says on the tin!

All Thumbs+ works in Windows 7 apart from the thumbnails, which are pretty vital. If I move to something else it must have the 'find similar images' facility.

Thanks.

I have written to Cerious Software but haven't had a reply yet, but I think a Linux application called DigiKam seems as though it will solve the problem.

It's wierd as according to the website it's fully functional in Windows 7. Are you using V7 of Thumbs+?

I tried the trial version of Thumbs+ 8 which had the same problem so I did not see the point of buying the upgrade. It is very disappointing because I have been using Thumbs+ since V3.3.
