Default Canon repair

Please can anybody recommend a camera repair company?

My Canon 28-135 IS is consistently producing less than sharp images and I'm wondering if there might be some excessive play in the mechanism.

Anybody out there with a trusted repairer?

If it was a manual focus lens or an older camera I would have suggestions :-)

However, have you considered sending it back to Canon? They have fixed price repairs (i.e. they'll let you know the price and it won't be more than that).

Here is their number: 0844-369-010.

Lehmann are relatively local to you and also handle your lens: 01782-413-611(although I've never used them).

I would go direct to Canon as you have, nobody knows the lens as good as they do! I recently bought a used Sigma lens and it wasn't as sharp as it should have been, I sent it to Sigma to get it calibrated and they couldn't get it as sharp as it should be so they have sent it to Japan at no extra cost

Guess what?

Great minds think alike, or... once an engineer, always an engineer

In fairness, the Canon techy I spoke to went through a series of questions which amounted to the same thing so she was probably an engineer as well

Hi everyone,
I think this may be of interest to you. http://focustestchart.com/chart.html I had what I thought was a focusing problem with my 24/105 but after using this I decided it was operator error.

It's certainly an interesting read even if you don't do the test and well worth printing off the page. HTH
