The surefire way is to send both the body & the lens - Canon's bods can use both together to replicate the problem, then can they test the lens on another body. This way they can't miss.
When my Sigma lens went back to Sigma they asked for me to send the body too, but I wasn't keen.

I'll summarise what I've done so far Simon

The lens exhibits the same symptoms on four different bodies.

None of my other lenses, either OEM or third party, show the same problem.

An identical borrowed lens on my camera body works perfectly.

An identical lens I "tested" at Jessops on my camera body works perfectly.

I'm satisfied that the lens is at fault

Anybody out there with a trusted repairer?
Just happened upon this thread having spent far too much time on the other forum I use a lot - Amateur Photographer (http://www.amateurphotographer.co.uk...ubbthreads.php)

You may well have resolved your problem by now, but if you're anywhere remotely near the Canon service centre I can thoroughly recommend their friendly and knowledgeable service. They're based just off the A41 near Edgware (stick their address into Google Maps):

Unit 130 Centennial Park
Centennial Avenue
Elstree Hill South
Borehamwood
Elstree
Hertfordshire
WD6 3SE

Tel: 0844 369 0100
Fax: 0844 892 0849

I used to have an EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens myself, which I used very happily for several years on my EOS 3. When I converted to digital photography I bought an EOS 5D with the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM, but I do still hanker after that bit of extra reach now denied me, although the wide end is pretty useful.

Hope you get things sorted out OK

Lehmann Limited must work some funny hours.

I've just had an e-mail saying that my lens was repaired and is going to be shipped on Tuesday

No,

Presumably it'll be on the paperwork when the lens arrives.

Lens is back

Report says "Focus checked and adjusted"

Whatever they did, it works beautifully now
