Default Power steering fluid loss from resevoir

My KV6 is losing power steering fluid from the vent in the resevoir cap. It's all over the front of the engine and on the drive, and I have to top it up every couple of weeks as soon as the steering gets heavy and 'graunchy'.
Suggestinos please?

A friend came around with his “new” Rover V6 where the reservoir cap was plumbed into a plastic coke bottle. Changed the pump for another, problem gone.

Regards

The old pump was leaking badly, so I changed the pump, this one does not leak, but is there something that fails in the pump to cause excess flow or pressure resulting in either excess pressure in the resevoir or raising the fluid level so that it is driven out of the vent?

Certainly no evidence of problems with the engine running, car stationary.

Same for my friend, no evidence of any leak just the overflow of fluid. When removed I tried rotating the pump to see if there was any resistance, there wasn't. Sorry don't know the reason, only that fitting another pump cured his problem.

Good luck

Thanks. I guess I could refit the old pump, but that I know has a bad leak. I believe there is a kit one can buy to overhaul them - any ideas on obtaining this?

Are any of the Land Rover / Discovery ones physically similar and can be made to fit?
Alternatively, is there a repair kit available? (I've look online without sucess)

Thanks Simon, have messaged them.
The non leaking pump is my spare from a complete 2.5 engine acquired from a breaker. I'm reluctant to take a pump off any of the others as all seem to be ok and will be put back on the raod. Having said that my 50k car will be unused some time while I strip the subframes off and rebuild the suspension so this could be a candidate. By which time my spare car, kept mot'd in case of emercency, will likely be suitable for breaking, reluctantly.
