Default defelctor which way up?

Is this the right way up for the wind deflector on the rear lower arm of a diesel?

What are the dangers and symptoms of not having one fitted? The one on my tourer is missing

None and none on my car Ian - it fell off a couple of years ago and has sat in the garage ever since.

I took mine off when I refurbished the lower arms in November 2018, it's still sitting waiting for me to refit it

I might even do it before I scrap the car
