Ah well, horses for courses.

Glad you got your dream though.
True point, lowering the car made a slight difference and 19 inch will make another difference. But I feel the opposite when it comes to the "big wheel" subject. So for me its an acceptable compromis.
And I'm used to 18 inch, the difference is very small with the original 16 inch.

I like the Interlagos ones you originally had on. Were they 5x100 7.5J ET50?

Almost, the offset is 35. It is exactly on the edge of the wheelarch. and ET of 30 would've touched the edge on a bump, 35 fits just.

Cool! Its a great feeling when you finally get a set a wheels you have been hankering for. I remember really wanting a set of speedline mistrals from the tomcat race cars!
Were the VW wheels a direct fit then? No spacers?

Nope, they fit like a glove. They just come out a little bit more then the original wheels due to a different offset. But I just got back from an MOT (literally 10 minuten ago) and it wasn't a problem. Actually, they have been on the car for almost 3 years, and it has never been a problem, not even after lowering it.

The new wheels have a larger offset and will go back in a few mm, so it should like a little bit more original.

I brought my 75 based on the Serpents that are on it. REALLY want to fully refurbish them, but they just made the car look right to me, so I can understand your obsession.

Only thing is, I have no idea what you lot are on about with technical talk of off sets and so forth. I just know 19 is bigger than 16 and.....that's it!

Still, really nice looking wheels.

Default Dreams

That Trebor has a lot to answer for! lol
Having seen his immaculate R75 it made me want a Premium grille on my ZT 190 (which I now have)

Have to say I like both of those wheels (maybe the Interlagos take the biscuit for me)

Just sourced (in the process of doing the deal) a set of Vortex for my 190 - then she will be finished (as much as any car is EVER finished! lol)

There is a lot going on with wheels. But I can try to explain it in short.

Lets say you have a wheel with these specifications:
18 inch - 8.5J - ET 40

8.5J
The J-size is the width of the wheel. It is measured in inches.

ET 40
This is the offset, it tells you how far the rear of the hub is away from the middle of the wheel. If you cut a wheel in half, you'll see the that the rear of the hub (the part that is touching the brakedisc) is not perfectly in the middle of the width of the wheel. This offset determines how far the wheels goes in or out of the wheelarch.
Rover 75 has a normal offset of 50, and offset of 40 means the wheel will come out 10 mm more then normal. If you would have a wheel with an offset of 60, the wheel would be further in by 10 mm.

The tricky part is checking if the wheel fits. You have to check the offset and the width. Because if a wheel is the same width as the original one, but goes further in, it is more likely to rub against certain parts.

And then you have tyres. They also have tricky measurements lol.
