Does the brightness of the dim LEDs increase with the temperature of whichever control box is driving them? I assume they're driven by MOSFETS and they do leak a bit, especially at elevated temperatures.
You can't just connect an LED across the mains, there'll be electronics involved including capacitors. I suppose there might be enough charge stored to illuminate the LED very briefly. Discuss! |

That's a bit more of than just a glow if you can see it in daylight - There's still enough voltage there to keep it lit. I've no idea of the switching circuit on that but it's not shutting off properly. Have you probed the supply to the light with a voltmeter to see what voltage is present? It only has to be a couple of volts to light the led like that.

Do you agree with the explainations given in post #1? That there is always 'some' voltage present in car electrical circuits even when off.

That doesn't look right to me! The "glow" of my GU10 lights is more an incandescent glow, barely visible in daylight at all unless you really look for it. Certainly not specific LED's lit up. I'd suggest summat ain't right there.

I have to say that the camera picture exposure is making the lit led's appear much brighter than they actually are when viewed in the car.I would have expected all led's to light to some extent though when voltage is there

For what it's worth my 1998 VVC Coupe behaved the same way.
I fitted footwell LED's, connected in parallel to the std interior light, and these definitely stayed dimly lit all the time. I can't remember if it was exactly the same for the original light though. It's almost 6 years since she was sidelined by another HGF (3rd in my ownership), and most of the loom is now on the back seat, otherwise I'd check for you! |

Sorry to hear that, sounds like the underlying issue for the failure is not being addressed.Plenty of help available over on the RCOC
