I think meet at the Harrows firstly, then perhaps some one can do a recce to see if the Ashes is open before we all decide to go there.
I think we are not out of the woods yet, and if the new owner thinks he is not getting enough over the bar at our meets and social nights then it could be the end . It's a tough world and the need of a back-up plan would be a good idea if possible. |

Ok so I took a ride down to the FA today and when I arrived there was a digger ripping out all the hedge rows, clear up all the rubbish out side the football changing rooms, all the out side canopy as been ripped down, and a carpenter was working on the outside seating area, I approached him and asked does he know what is going on with the pub.
He says yes Sam & his business partner Dan/Dean had taken over, I say can I speak to Sam? he says you will find him at the top of the car park on the digger, I walk up introduce myself and explain that we usually have our meets on the field and that we have a social meet ever third week of the month in the pub, he said he had heard about it, great I said and how would we stand to carry on ? He as said as long as we go into the pub have a meal and a few beers we can carry on as per usual, so great news therefore we must try and support the pub a little more this coming season and months ahead, he says he is hoping to be up and running for Monday therefore we should be able to have our social meet, if not I put forward that we still turn up as many as possible, if it is not open and he is about we can still have another talk to him, then maybe go down the Harrows to have our usual chat etc. So great news we are still in business at the Four Ashes, all we need to do is sort out our meet dates after we have had a good chat with Sam, all the best Arctic.

Hi all,
Sorry, I will be unable to attend the meet on Monday evening as I will be driving to Germany for a couple of days. Have a good evening and I will catch you at the next one in December, if we are having one that close to Christmas? Regards, Tom.

Some more good news we have been informed, that the FA was open for custom as a local member drove past and all the lights were on, people could be seen playing darts in the bar, quite a few cars on the car park therefore we will be meeting at the FA Monday 20th 19.00 19.15 pm onwards, hope fully a few will turn up cheers Arctic

Having called in the Four Ashes, I can confirm they are open for business, and up and running for food also.
A vastly altered menu, and prices back into line with what you would expect at a rural pub. See you all later. |
