tail gate microswitch
Does anyone know where you can buy a microswitch for the tail gate locking mechanism. The boot decided not to open today. I can hear the microswitch clicking when I try it, but no joy.
However the only spares seem to be a full plinth, second hand seems to be the same price as new. Anyone know you can get just a microswitch that works on our cars? |

Tried opening the boot from the inside using the release, however it's been snapped off previously. Anyone any idea on how to open it without it?

Re Micro Switch
I have just had the same problem two days ago with said micro switch, to open my tailgate, I unlocked car via remote then held down unlock on remote for a couple of seconds then the tailgate released, then I gained access to the micro switch using torx security bits to remove chrome boot plinth then the two small cross head screws to get at the micro switch, I then parted the switch cover four small tangs and it popped open be careful though it's a bit fiddly sprayed the inside of it with maff cleaner or any electrical spray then put the little cover back on, activate the lock with your finger to close the mechanism then try the micro switch hopefully that should work for you it did for me good luck Bill.

I tried that and took the plinth off. I've got access to the mswitch. Given it a spray but still nothing. Its clicking but that's it. I'd like to open the boot using the emergency lever but it's missing. |

Cheers but it's the microswitch inside the plinth.

Slightly odd, tried cleaning it again with the tailgate open and with the mswitch in my hand i could hear the lock. However after putting it all back together it failed to work again.

Hello Topman
I wouldn't give up on the micro switch just yet when I tried to spray the switch same thing happened to me it would not work, I could hear it clicking ok but had to dismantle the switch to get at the brass workings to give it a good spray once I did this it stated to work ok, it's been three days now since fixing it and all seems ok now nothing worse than not being able to get tailgate open especially when SWMBO needs to go to B&Q then again that could be a good thing . |
