I used to use boot polish on my tyres years ago, it worked really well.

Yes, in my Triumph Spitfire / GT6 / Vitesse days there was a chap in the Triumph Sports Six Club used to do the same. Put it on the tyres with one brush and brush off with another one .... just like I used to do my school shoes with!

Gives a nice, clean, not too glossy finish to the tyres.

Other makes of vehicle are available, of course!

Cheers

John

This was the method we used in the workshop Black boot Polish was the best for restoring tyre side walls, much cheeper than tyre silk and alike and it can be bought in the local supermarket. Just like bulling up your boots or shoes.

I have used on all the black plastic on the R40 since 2010 and on both my FL works good, once it as settled down as above rub up, then after a couple of days on warm/cool day go over it with black boot polish on a rag leave for about half hour then rub up last tine I used it was 17/7/2017 it will be due another coat just before the winter sets in

You couldn't have posted this LAST WEEK when I went out and brought some "Back to black" which, it has to be said, doesn't make things black again.

Pooey!

Amazingly it also works on the leather on my seats. Almost as if it were made for leather

Don't do what the owner of the taxi I drove did. He did the rubber floor mats and pedal rubbers with tyre dressing, so slippery it made the thing pretty much undriveable.
